Last summer Jason, Chesley, Daniel and Erik traveled far to Alaska to take part in the first World Series race to ever take place in the “Land of the Midnight Sun”. It was the most difficult race the team had ever competed in, with more than 25% of the teams being rescued by helicopter or boat.
Team YogaSlackers themselves organized a rescue of another racer who fell deep into a crevasse less than 24-hours into the event. Jason later broke through a snow bridge and fell into a cascading waterfall under the snow. Teams battled severe hypothermia, whiteouts, foot fungus, raging glacial rivers (two teams never managed to cross), broken bodies, all while navigation across some of the most inhospitable terrain imaginable.
Most of this action was captured on video by the teams themselves, and a group of professional filmmakers led by award winning adventure documentarian Brian Leitten. We are not sure on the final release date, but we’ve seen the first two episodes, and it is amazing to relive this experience.
But while you wait – our own talented Chip Feiberg of Hear Right Now productions has produced a teaser using our team’s footage and interview.
The best part – we have early confirmation that Expedition Alaska will return as part of the World Series again in 2018. We will be there.
Special thanks to prAna for the support to get this project done, and to all our team sponsors and supporters.
